What are the chances Jets land a top 5 pick in 2020 draft?

With the Jets sitting at 0-4, they are well-positioned to have a high draft pick again in 2020.

Based on the current standings now, the Jets have the fourth overall pick with only the Bengals, Redskins and Dolphins ahead of them. Coincidentally, the Jets play all three of these teams later on in the season.

According to ESPN’s Football Power Index, the Jets have a 5.8 percent chance to land the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. They also have a 56.8 percent chance of getting a top five pick.

It’s too early in the season for the Jets to be even thinking about next year’s draft, though. With Sam Darnold coming back from mononucleosis, they still feel like they have a chance to turn their season around. Certainly with Darnold, they have some favorable matchups on the schedule.

Besides the three teams mentioned above, the Jets still have to play the Giants, Jaguars and Raiders. These are all games that the Jets have a decent chance of winning.

Could the Jets land in the top five of next year’s draft? Yes, there’s a chance that they only win a few games this season. But before we start thinking about 2020, can we see if Darnold can flip the script on this team? If the Jets only have a couple wins by December, then we can start shifting the focus onto April’s draft.
