What are the Blackpool Council local election 2021 results?

Voters in Blackpool have had their say in the 2021 local elections.

Council seats for the by-election were up for grabs in just two wards: Highfield and Norbreck.

It comes after the 2019 local election for all 21 wards.

The Blackpool Council elections were taking place at the same time as the Lancashire County Council elections.

Blackpool Council is a unitary authority - meaning it is not represented on Lancashire County Council and instead control all matters relating to highways, education, social services, waste management, and health and wellbeing.

Polls closed at 10pm on Thursday, May 6, with the count expected to take place on Friday.

It is the first time local elections have taken place in two years after last year's ballot was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
