What are kids at Castle Douglas Primary hoping to get for Christmas?

If you’re organised then you’ve already bought your presents, sent your cards and put up your tree.

Yes, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas across the Stewartry with less than a week until the big day.

The region’s schools are in their last few days before the kids and teachers get a well earned break.

But before they headed off for the holidays, we asked youngsters in Mr Whan’s P7 class at Castle Douglas Primary what they are hoping to receive at Christmas – as well as what they like about the festive period aside from the presents.

Kalim Carruthers. (Jim McEwan)

Kalim Carruthers is hoping for a fancy new phone. He explained: “I lost mine in the summer and I’ve never had a decent one, I’ve always just had a cheap one. I’ve been wanting to get a good one like an iPhone.

“The best Christmas present I’ve had before is a bike.

“I’m looking forward to going with my papa for a meal on Christmas, I see him every week.”

Mylie Burns. (Jim McEwan)

Mylie Burns is also hoping that Santa brings her some new technology. She said: “I’ve not had a new TV for a while so I’d quite like one. I got a dressing table before, which I use a lot.

“I’m looking forward to spending time with my family.”

Heidi Miller. (Jim McEwan)

Active Heidi Miller is looking for a rather different gift – although may have to wait for the better weather until she gets the chance to use it.

She said: “I want a trampoline. I’ve been to Energy quite a lot and it’s so much fun jumping around and doing leaps and cartwheels. I do highland dancing in Lochmaben and ballet in Dumfries. I’m quite active.

“I’m going to my gran’s for Christmas and my little cousins are coming as well. They live really far away so we don’t get to see each other a lot.”

Tyler Maxwell. (Jim McEwan)

Tyler Maxwell said: “I’m hoping to get a hoverboard. I’ve always wanted to zoom around and just be lazy.

“I think my favourite present was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle’s pop-up pizza playset.

“I’m looking forward to spending time with my family.”
