What are Banadium Chips used for in Donkey Kong Bananza?

Banadium Chips are one of many resources you can find in-game in Donkey Kong Bananza. While a lot of the items like gold, Banadium Gems, and relics all have obvious uses, the Chips are one of the stranger items that don't tell you how to use them despite being in abundance throughout each world.

You can find them practically everywhere. When punching through terrain or breaking open boxes. They are as commonplace as you can hope for, and you'll soon find yourself having more than you need. So what exactly are they used for?

You can buy two types of items with Banadium Chips in Donkey Kong Banaza, which include:

  • Banadium Gems (Bananas)
  • Disks

You can find various Chip Exchanges stores around the world. When interacting with the NPCs at these places, you can exchange your Chips plus a bit of gold for a single Banadium Gem, or you can exchange 100 Chips for a random music disk you have yet to unlock. Any time you buy another Banadium Gem, the amount of chips and gold you need to use increases.

Realistically, the Chips are best used for getting Disks, which are incredibly rare to find from enemy drops and are the only way to guarantee finding one. It's quite easy to find Banadium Gems, and after unlocking every ability, buying them becomes pointless, and you'll regret using the Chips, which are tougher to find, in the future.

There's no limit to the amount of Banadium Gems you can buy, but you are limited when it comes to the disks, as you can only collect as many as there are available. So use your Chips wisely when deciding on your purchases.

If you want to get more Chips, there is a neckwear item you can find in a later level that doubles the chance of finding them if you want to try and collect all the disks available in-game, but you can also find them fairly easily when exploring. If you aren't an avid collector, though, you can likely give this resource a pass and focus on other aspects of the game as you please.
