What Antonio Rudiger said about racist abuse during Spurs vs Chelsea

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has revealed what he was told by Antonio Rudiger after he was subjected to racist abuse during their 2-0 victory over Chelsea.

The Blues defender reported that he was racistly abused during the second half of the match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, shortly after Heung-Min Son had been sent off for a challenge on him.

Three announcements were made on the tannoy about racist behaviour during the match, with shadowed an otherwise fantastic day for Chelsea.

A first-half brace from Willian secured three points for Frank Lampard's side, moving them four points clear of fifth-placed Sheffield United in the Premier League table.

However, the game was overshadowed by the latest instalment of racism behaviour and after the match, Azpilicueta explained what he had been told by Rudiger.

"It is very clear, we have meetings with the Premier League and the referees before the game," he told Sky Sports after the match.

"We have been told to report if there is an incident with racism, to report it straight away.

"Toni came to me and told me there was some racism towards him so I just reported to the ref immediately.

"I left it for the ref to do his job because we are very concerned and very aware of this behaviour and altogether we need to make it stop."

When asked if any other Chelsea player heard the abuse, he added: "No, because we went straight to play because of the incident with Son and his red card was in that area, that's where it happened.

"I hope everything gets clear and we regulate it as soon as possible as this is an issue not just in football but in life. We need to work together towards the relegation of the problem."
