What Antonio Conte has said about Paul Pogba as Man Utd ace set to make transfer decision

New Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte was full of praise for Paul Pogba when the two worked together at Juventus.

The France international moved to Italy in 2012 on a free transfer from the Manchester United academy. A year later, he won the Golden Boy award before making the Serie A team of the year on three successive occasions.

The 28-year-old later switched the Old Lady for a move back to Old Trafford in a deal reportedly worth over £90million in 2016.

Since then, he has made over 200 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions and has also become a key player for the French national team who went on to win a World Cup in 2018.

The midfielder now has a big decision to make over his future, with his current deal expiring in the summer and the potential to sign a pre-contractual agreement with clubs abroad available to him in January.

Whilst Manchester United have reportedly tabled a new offer, a decision is yet to be made over whether he will stay in the Premier League for the future.

On Pogba, Conte has previously spoken on the midfielder when they were together at Juventus, per Goal : "Pogba is a modern player, as he is strong, fast and has stamina.

"He’s also humble, so listens to the advice given by me and by his team-mates. We started working on him a year ago and his progress has been incredible.

"I saw his interviews in which he said he wanted to become the best in the world. I am happy with that, because in my view he can be the best."

Pogba would often play left of a midfield three for the Serie A side, taking up the role of a playmaker in Conte’s usual 3-5-2. It’s a role that could be filled at Spurs by record signing Tanguy Ndombele, but time will tell if that becomes a regular occurrence.
