What Ange Postecoglou told new Spurs signing about goalkeepers

Italian shot-stopper Guglielmo Vicario has expressed his excitement about his new role as an attacking goalkeeper at Tottenham Hotspur.

The 25-year-old recently completed a £16.4 million transfer from Empoli to join Ange Postecoglou's side today.

In an interview with Spurs' club media, Vicario confidently defined himself as an attacking keeper, emphasizing his unique approach to the position.

He revealed that the Postecoglou had emphasized the importance of an attacking mentality for a goalkeeper, considering it a crucial aspect of their role on the pitch.

He said: "I can define myself as an attacking keeper. It's a different way to see the role but I'm happy with this. The coach told me the keeper is so important with his attacking mentality.

"It's a position with big responsibilities because if you make a mistake it's 99% likely to be a goal. I love this responsibility."

Postecoglou remains heavily linked with moves for Kyogo and Reo Hatate while Cameron Carter-Vickers has also been suggested as a target.

The London side have today fended off overtures for their star striker Harry Kane, who Postecoglou wants to keep in North London despite him only having a year left on his contract.
