What Ange Postecoglou thinks of Celtic return for Gordon Strachan as boss admits appointment isn't on his 'radar'

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has had a sit-down with the returning Gordon Strachan.

And he's hailed the new Parkhead consultant as a "passionate football person" as the former boss gets to work on a three-month remit across various avenues of the club.

On Tuesday it was announced Strachan will arrive for a project lasting until the winter - without relinquishing his technical director role at Dundee - and will oversee the women's side, academy and B team areas of the club.

Postecoglou has met with Strachan, who managed Celtic between 2005 and 2009 and delivered three league titles during his reign.

The Australian said: "I have met Gordon and he is a very passionate football person which I kind of like.

"The information I have had is that we are keen to tap into his knowledge of the club in terms of some of the structures around the club, particularly around the academy and women's football which I think is really important infrastructure-wise.

"But again, how much that comes on my radar at the moment, this is probably the first time I have thought about it."

Celtic Park will be full for the first time since before the pandemic for Thursday's Europa League tie against Jablonec.

The sold-out second leg is sure to be an emotional occasion for many fans returning to the ground as they hope to roar the team through to the play-off round and a tie against AZ Alkmaar.

Celtic already hold a 4-2 aggregate advantage from last week's match in the Czech Republic and Postecoglou added: "When the whistle goes I want to show the same intent we showed at the weekend.

"Irrespective of what the opponents may or may not come up with, it is important we set the tempo right from the start and let them adjust to us."
