'What an opportunity' - Huge boost for Bristol City as Aston Villa's Jack Grealish is ruled out of Championship clash

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith was forced into a rejig of his side on Saturday after losing playmaker and captain Jack Grealish to illness.

Grealish, 23, has been outstanding during Villa's run of seven consecutive wins which has catapulted them into the top six of the Championship and the Birmingham born and bred star is the beating heart of this team.

However, despite being spotted at Villa Park in training kit he was not deemed well enough to take to the field against Bristol City and was replaced in the starting XI by Glenn Whelan.

It means Bristol City only have to face one of Villa's main creative outlets in John McGinn. Over the seven-game winning streak, Grealish has created 18 shooting opportunities for his teammates, more than any other player at the club in that time with Whelan a more defensive-minded player.

In response, Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson has selected an aggressive line-up with Matty Taylor returning to the team alongside fellow attackers Andi Weimann and Famara Diedhiou with centre-back Nathan Baker making way for the fan favourite.

It's the first time this season Johnson has started all three of his frontline attackers in the same fixture.
