'What an achievement!' - Bolton Wanderers' Ronan Darcy clinches promotion with Queen's Park

Ronan Darcy has hailed the achievement of reaching the Scottish Championship with Queen's Park while out on loan from Bolton Wanderers.

The 21-year-old has been North of the border since the start of February for the second half of the campaign. He had spent the first portion of the campaign away from Wanderers in Norway at Sogndal.

Darcy made a total of 10 appearances in his spell with the Glasgow club. He also scored once as he earned his side a point against Alloa Athletic.

Over the weekend, Darcy's loan side won a place in the Scottish Championship after winning the Scottish League One play-off final. Queen's Park beat Airdrieonians 3-2 on aggregate.

In the second leg, The Diamonds had taken the lead through Rhys McCabe's superb free kick, but Queen's Park levelled through Connor Smith. They then bagged their winner in the second period of extra-time when Dylan Easton fouled Simon Murray and the former Dundee United and Hibs striker dusted himself down before sending his side up to the Championship with a 2-1 win on the day.

Darcy's second loan spell has now come to a conclusion and he will return to Wanderers this summer. He has a year left on his Whites contract, which runs until the summer of 2023.

And Darcy has taken to social media after helping the Spiders reach the Scottish second tier and hailed the dressing room at Queen's Park after what they have achieved together. He was an unused substitute in both legs of the play-off final.

Taking to Twitter, Darcy wrote: "What an achievement! What an unbelievable set of lads!"

In the first half of the season at Sogndal, Darcy made nine appearances for the Norwegian outfit.
