Everyone is a genius with the benefit of hindsight.
This is especially true in Scottish football when every aspect of everything is picked apart with the forensic intensity of a New York CSI team.
And when Steven Gerrard pitched up in Glasgow to be announced as Rangers boss anyone with a social media platform (or a voice) had a hot take on the move.
That, of course, extended to ex-players and Ally McCoist is pretty much ubiquitous when it comes to verdicts on Ibrox issues of the day with the legendary striker working across multiple media outlets.
And when Gerrard arrived to give his first press conference in May 2018 it's fair to say he was happy with then chairman Dave King 's managerial move.
So how is Ally doing on the Nostradamus stakes? Find out below.
He told BT Sport: "First and foremost, it's absolutely fantastic for Scottish football.
"It really is, it's brilliant and it has put us back on the map again.
"Globally and all over the place they will be looking at the results to see how Steven does against Brendan (Rodgers).
"I just think it's fantastic and tremendous.
"Listen, it's a gamble of course it is. Any management appointment is a gamble. I get it, no experience in the managerial side but at the same time - what a fantastic player and he always said he would go into coaching or management.
"I thought he handled the press conference as you would expect, fantastically well so very, very interesting times ahead.
"I wasn't surprised at all. He's a veteran in being in front of the camera both on and off the park so I had no concerns about that side of it at all.

"It was a great press conference, it really was.
"The vast majority, if not all of the Rangers supporters will be thrilled with what they heard and saw. But as he said himself, the hard work will start on June 1.
"I would think he certainly would have spoken to people about the move and there's a lot of people he could have spoken to.
"It's a far bigger managerial move for him than MK Dons (who Gerrard was also linked to at the time) but you can look at it both ways.
"I would be staggered if Steven didn't seek reassurances from Dave King and the board about what is without doubt the most important aspect of his management and that will be the recruitment side.
"If he doesn't get help in terms of finances for wages for loan players or to go and buy a better standard of player then they won't close the gap on Celtic.
"Listening to him at the press conference he is very confident as you would hope and expect and he's eager to get started."
