What Alexandre Lacazette did to help Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang immediately settle in at Arsenal

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette have struck up quite a friendship during their two years together at Arsenal.

With the latter joining from Lyon in July 2017, Arsene Wenger further strengthened his attacking options during the winter market with the former moving in a big-money deal from Borussia Dortmund.

Having a good understanding together on the pitch, it has also been evident to see that they are also very close away from it with the pair always laughing and joking.

Speaking to Telefoot in France, Aubameyang was quizzed on a range of different topics and his relationship with the French striker came up.

So how quickly did they become close friends at the Emirates?

"It is funny, we didn’t really know each other, of course we knew each other owing to the rivalries between Lyon and St Étienne, but we didn’t come across each other elsewhere," said the striker, as reported by GFFN.

"So the day I arrived, he was like “oooo Aubame” and all this, we were laughing together immediately.

"It is always great to come across French players, he’s very cool and frank as well, which is what makes it a pleasure to be working with him on a daily basis.

"At training or in daily life, he is a good guy, the chemistry is there, and on the pitch it happens automatically."

Aubameyang was also asked about his brief time working under Wenger in north London.

The experienced manager brought the frontman to the club in January 2018 but their time together was brief as the Frenchman finally called time on his long Arsenal tenure at the end of the 2017/18 season.

"It was very short and it was a shame that I did not get the chance to get to know him more," added the ex-Borussia Dortmund ace.

"It was thanks to him that I came here, the time I had with him will remain a real souvenir.

"Aside from that, it’s football. Constantly moving and turning. It was certainly an emotional moment, I think everyone felt that, seeing him leave after so many years."
