What AFCON final referee did after Mohamed Salah complaints

The referee of the African Cup of Nations final between Egypt and Senegal offered Mohamed Salah his whistle and cards after he complained about a decision.

But official Victor Gomes appeared to suggest that Salah should take over his role if he felt he could do better.

The Reds star has already played a crucial role in the final after appearing to tell Egypt’s goalkeeper Mohamed Abou Gabal where to dive after Senegal were awarded a penalty that was taken by Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane .

The Senegalese were awarded the spot kick after Mohamed Abdelmonem brought down Salio Ciss in the opening few minutes of the game, however Salah's advice paid off as the keeper dived to his right and made a stunning save to deny Mane.

The contest finished 0-0 after 90 minutes and will go to extra time.
