'What about Saka?!' - Arsenal fans ask the same question after quadruple contract announcement

Arsenal fans have been reacting to the club's quadruple contract announcement.

On Wednesday morning it was confirmed that David Luiz has penned a new contract at the Emirates Stadium, while Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares have earned permanent deals following loan moves in the January transfer window.

Furthermore, loanee Dani Ceballos has agreed to stick around until the end of the season as his loan deal was originally due to expire at the end of the month.

David Luiz: Is his reputation as error-prone unfair?

Techincal director Edu commented on the announcement and he's delighted to have added the trio of defenders to Mikel Arteta's squad.

"I am really happy that we will have these players in our squad for the future," he told the club's official website. "They have been part of the long-term technical plan Mikel and I have developed.

"They bring the right balance to our squad.

However, the news has not gone down well with all Arsenal supporters, with many feeling that the priority should have been securing deals for Bukayo Saka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

With that said, head coach Arteta did stress last week that tying down Saka and club Aubameyang to new deals were equally important as the aforementioned short-term deals.

"We are trying, as a club, to finalise the deals that are more urgent and are a priority for us," Arteta told football.london.

"The ones you are talking about [Bukayo and Auba] - they are both really important, not just for now but for the future of the club as well and if the club has something to announce, they will do it in the right moment."
