What Aaron Ramsey said to Cristiano Ronaldo after pinching Juventus Champions League goal

Former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has apologised to Juventus teammate Cristiano Ronaldo after pinching his goal in the Champions League victory over Lokomotiv Moscow.

The Welshman opened the scoring in the 2-1 victory after home goalkeeper Guilherme spilled a free-kick from serial Ballon D'Or winner Ronaldo just four minutes in.

As the ball trickled towards the line, Ramsey tapped home to make sure to celebrate his first goal in the competition since scoring for Arsenal against Monaco in March 2015.

Whether the ball would have crossed the line if Ramsey did not touch it is up for debate but the former Gunners ace was sheepish with his celebration, given that Ronaldo is always in such a relentless pursuit of goals.

After the match, Ramsey confirmed he had apologised to Ronaldo for potentially denying his 130th goal in the Champions League and added he was unsure if the keeper was going to recover from his error.

"I thought the keeper was a lot closer to me and had a chance of diving back and maybe clearing it," Ramsey told reporters after the match.

"My instinct took over to make sure that it went over the line. I've apologised to Cristiano.

"We still have work to do to finish top but we achieved our target of qualifying tonight, so we're happy that we've done that."
