What Aaron Ramsey said in an emotional Arsenal farewell that has Spurs fans mocking the Gunners

It is the end of an era for Aaron Ramsey and Arsenal after an emotional farewell at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon (Sunday).

The Welshman said goodbye to the Arsenal fans after the Gunners' 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion this afternoon, with Ramsey set to move to Juventus this summer after 11 years with the north London side.

And Ramsey broke down in tears as he bade farewell to the place he has called home, with the 28-year-old reflecting on 369 appearances for the Gunners, during which he has scored 64 goals.

Injury has cruelly robbed him of a chance for one final appearance at the Emirates Stadium, but he described it as "one hell of a journey" as he looked back to his time in north London, having joined the club from Cardiff City back in 2008.

But it was one thing in particular that he said after the game that has got Spurs fans talking - and laughing - at their north London rivals.

"I’m obviously really excited for the new challenge and new chapter in my life," he said after the game.

"It’s been a strange year really. I’m still an Arsenal player. I’ve had so much time here. My career has mainly been here so focusing on every game for Arsenal has been quite a challenge. I’ve managed to do it and give up absolutely everything every game.

"Now I can really let that sink in. I am going to be going to a club that’s playing in the Champions League, playing with [Cristiano] Ronaldo, so that’s really going to sink in now. So I can really look forward to that challenge."

And it is that comment about the Champions League that has sparked a response from Spurs fans, with Tottenham now looking set to beat the Gunners to fourth spot - and with it, qualification for Europe's top club competition again next season.

What Arsenal's draw against Brighton means for Chelsea and Spurs in the battle for the top four

Arsenal's draw against strugglers Brighton means they are now three points behind Spurs, with an inferior goal difference, meaning it is unlikely they will be playing in the Champions League themselves.

And unsurprisingly, this is something that Spurs fans are delighting in this evening, as can be seen below.
