What Aaron Ramsdale did for Arsenal to help rescue last-gasp point against Crystal Palace

Arsenal's draw with Crystal Palace on Monday night continues to frustrate many supporters but there were at least a handful of positives to take away from the match.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang found the net again to continue his resurgence in front of goal and Alexandre Lacazette undoubtedly did his confidence a world of good with the last minute equaliser.

Another positive continues to be Aaron Ramsdale's presence in the Arsenal goal. A controversial signing in the summer, Ramsdale has quickly become a fan-favourite with a string of fine performances.

It was not his shot-stopping that impressed against the Eagles, however, but simply his determination to see his side regain their foothold in the game.

As Mikel Arteta's men struggled in their pursuit of an equaliser, Ramsdale was seen barking commands to his teammates and even rushing from his goal to take throw-ins when required.

He took two in total through the 90 minutes, which led to a fascinating statistic emerging.

According to Harvey Downes, a football data editor for Opta, it was the first time a goalkeeper had taken two throw-ins in one Premier League game since Joe Hart did it for Manchester City on the final day of the 2011-12 season.

That instance occurred as Roberto Mancini's side desperately sought to overturn a 2-1 deficit against QPR at the Etihad and win their first Premier League crown.

Thanks to Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero, they did exactly that.

While the performance against Crystal Palace was deservedly criticised from all corners, the fact they had a player in Ramsdale playing with urgency comparable to that title-winning display from City should add some encouragement.
