What A Spidey Wants: Tom Holland Has Seen Your Spider-Man 4 Wishlists

Spider-Man: Brand New Day star Tom Holland wants to know what we want from the upcoming MCU movie. In a recent interview with LADbible, the Peter Parker actor revealed that he’s been lurking on social media and reading the comments.

Whether that’s a good idea or not remains to be seen! It’s nice that he cares so much,  but please take a break for your own mental health there my guy. Holland revealed that he has been reading what fans are saying about the character and what they want to see in the new movie. And even said he brings those ideas back to the producers of Brand New Day.

“I have been actively sifting through the Internet and trying to best understand what it is that the fans want from a Spider-Man movie, and that’s been my driving force in these pitch meetings,” Holland revealed. “I think the producers, at times were like, absolutely sick of me, but I think it’s really important, because we make these movies for [the fans].”

A delicate dance of listening to the fans

First, I just want to say what a thrill it is to be getting direct quotes about Spider-Man: Brand New Day after all this waiting for the project to become real. If you’ve been on those Internet corners that Holland referenced here, it’s been a long road to even getting a title and confirmation for the upcoming MCU film. Having the 29-year-old answering actual, dyed in the wool questions about Peter Parker’s new suit and the story of this movie is a riot.

But, we also have to ask our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man to tread a little bit lighter on the Twitters and TikToks of the world. Like, the fans are important. Sure! But, also they can be a bit confused when it comes to exactly what they want out of a big-budget Hollywood blockbuster. Look at the responses to titles like Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps for more on that beat!

Both projects feel like direct responses to earlier comments about Marvel Studios current Multiverse Saga and how far things had expanded out. The Fantastic Four: First Steps, especially, feels like the kind of self-contained adventure that half of the fanbase had been clamoring for over the course of the last 3 years. Only for the audience to sit around and debate how it compared to James Gunn’s Superman rather than receive the movie on its own basis.

Tom Holland’s new Spider-Man already looks pretty great?

So, maybe don’t go diving so deep into the comment section there Tom Holland! From all of the first looks at Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it looks like you and Destin Daniel Cretton are already on the right track.

The web swinging drew near-universal praise when those set photos made their way onto social media. Whatever that business with an armored vehicle also drew rave reviews as well. Netting Jon Bernthal and Mark Ruffalo as big elements in the story? Also very encouraging! You’re doing great sweetie, don’t change a thing.

In fact, from these early indications, the biggest thing on a lot of fans’ wishlists already seems like it’s full-steam ahead from over there. That being: Spider-Man: Brand New Day seems to be signaling towards a much-more street level Spider-Man story.

Much has been made about Spider-Man not spending a ton of time in New York City helping people in the MCU. (I’ll leave it to the readers to determine how much saving the planet mattered for the larger Atlantic Triangle in Avengers: Infinity War…) But, very seriously, it looks like the kid is going to spend most of the movie swinging around New York and battling fan-favortie MCU characters before they unite to take down a bad guy(s) in the end.

Go get us pictures of Spider-Man, Tom Holland!

What else could we ask of Holland’s fourth solo outing as Peter Parker? Well, if you’re our own Rachel Leishman, one very specific request:

Get that camera in your hands, get us pictures of Spider-Man, and you can basically do no wrong Mr. Holland! (As an aside, could you please get Destin to bump up Zendaya’s screentime too? Since we’re taking requests here?)

Spider-Man: Brand New Day sees Tom Holland swinging back to the big screen as the beloved Marvel hero on July 31 2026.
