The government has made it official for weddings to go ahead from July 4, much to the delight of couples left disappointed when lockdown was announced in March.
Wedding venues, including churches were closed and group gatherings were banned when the UK went into lockdown almost four months ago.
It meant many bride and grooms were forced to put their wedding plans on hold for the foreseeable.
But Tuesday's announcement on the further easing of lockdown restrictions means weddings and civil partnerships can go ahead from July 4, the Manchester Evening News has reported.
There will still be tight rules in place and it seems couples and venues will have to be imaginative with their planning.
What a post lockdown wedding will look like
- A maximum of 30 guests in attendance at the ceremony, so you'll need to choose wisely
- You cannot hold large wedding receptions and parties
- The only way to can hold wedding celebrations is if you follow the rules of six people outdoors, support bubbles, or two households indoors or outdoors
The Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Tuesday (June 23): "I know that many have mourned the closure of places of worship and this year Easter, Passover and Eid all occurred during the lockdown.
"So I am delighted that places of worship will be able to reopen for prayer and services, including weddings, with a maximum of 30 people, all subject to social distancing."
