‘What a player’ - Virgil van Dijk wades into Liverpool social media battle

Virgil van Dijk has subtly waded into Liverpool team-mates' Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold's social media battle.

On Wednesday, Alexander-Arnold shared a clip to Twitter and Instagram of himself perfectly placing a football into an ornament at the bottom of his garden.

In response to this video, his fellow full-back Robertson shared a similar video - which included a message for the England star.

Robertson posted a 31-second clip of himself taking free-kicks in his own garden.

The Scotsman had three attempts and smashed the ball into targets placed in both top corners.

The left-back's caption read: "There's a new freekick taker when we get back @trentaa98"

Van Dijk waded in on the battle as he replied to the post, the centre-back commenting: "What a player".

This reply not only received 25k likes but was also much appreciated by Robertson who responded: "Thank you Virgil".

Alexander-Arnold instead left a sassy comment on Robertson's Instagram, suggesting his free-kicks might not be all too successful as he said: "Hits the wall".

To which the 26-year-old Scot replied: "Fair point".

Liverpool’s squad are currently isolating amid the outbreak of the coronavirus which has seen Premier League action disbanded until April 30 at the earliest.
