'What a player' - Manchester United fans react as transfer target Jude Bellingham returns for Birmingham City

Manchester United fans have been reacting on social media after Jude Bellingham returned to action for Birmingham City this afternoon.

The youngster is a target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after breaking into the first-team at Birmingham this season.

Bellingham is regarded as one of the most promising youngsters in the country and is set to take the next step in his career at the end of the season.

MEN Sport understands United's interest in the 16-year-old emerged in January but no formal offer was made.

However, he was given a tour of the Carrington training complex alongside his parents back in March as the Reds attempted to convince him that a move to Old Trafford would be best for his future.

Borussia Dortmund are believed to be United's main competition to sign Bellingham, who has also been tentatively linked with Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Championship returned this afternoon following an extended break caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

And here is what United fans thought of Bellingham in his first game back for Birmingham in their goalless draw against West Brom.

Speaking ahead of today’s game, Birmingham boss Pep Clotet insisted Bellingham was solely focused on his side amid continued transfer talk.

“I will not be able to tell you much because it is something that concerns the club and Jude Bellingham," Clotet said. "I never wanted to get details from them.

"I think Jude has done a fantastic job during these months leading up to this situation we have now. He looks a stronger player in my opinion, he looks very focused.

"There has to be a simple decision between the club and Jude and whatever other clubs are involved, in the case that Jude leaves.

"But that is up to them and I cannot add anymore."

Clotet's side held promotion-chasing West Brom to a 0-0 draw at the Hawthorns with Bellingham playing 70 minutes.
