'What a load of tripe' Fans react as Leeds Superchargers announced as new city cricket team

The ECB's new short-form game has already come under fierce criticism, with fans jumping on the fact that the promotional image used for the big launch actually came from a Miami rap concert.

It was later revealed that the photo has also been used in marketing material for community building projects and veganism.

In the latest blooper, the reported names of six teams who will compete in the new competition have now been leaked - including the Leeds-based outfit.

Eight teams will take part in The Hundred and the Evening Standard has revealed that the sport's governing body has applied for trademarks for six team names.

The Leeds team, which will be based at Headingley Stadium, will reportedly be called Leeds Superchargers.

Cue a social media meltdown.

London Spirit, Welsh Fire (Cardiff), Southern Brave (Southampton), Birmingham Phoenix and Trent Rockets (Nottingham) are the five other supposed names that have been trademarked by the ECB.

As the Twitter reactions below suggest, the names haven't gone down well with cricket fans.
