This is the amazing moment a young Dundee schoolgirl smashed in a goal that sent social media wild.
Super-talented teen Caisey Gowans didn’t hesitate when she was passed the ball well outside the penalty area during an Under-16 match at the weekend.
The 15-year-old, who was playing for Dundee United girls, only had one thing in mind.
After a brilliant first touch, she lashed the ball into the top left hand corner from 25 yards giving the Raith Rovers Raiders’ keeper no chance.
The clip has now been widely shared across social media channels by fans stunned by her amazing strike.
Describing her goal, Caisey told Dundee Live: "The passing was on point from the girls on Saturday & I knew when Bailey (winger) crossed it too me I HAD too get it under control.
"When I shot & scored I was Buzzing as it was my first goal this season , hopefully more too come !”
The magic moment was captured by a dad of one of the Raith Rovers players, Christian Ericsson.
Writing on Twitter, he said: “Credit where credit is due. What about this goal?
“Well done to the United player who took it down to score.”
Dundee United went on to to win the game against the Fife team 8-0 and now progress to the Quarter Final of the League Cup.
Speaking to Dundee Live, Georgia Carter, DUFC’s Girls and Women’s Development Officer, said: “ It is a fantastic goal and the build up to the goal was great too.
“This goal involved a great ball from Bayley Morrison and Caisey Gowans brilliant first touch and finish.”
