Andy Murray thanked the Australian Open crowd after bowing out of the competition - possibly for the last time - with a five-set loss to No.22 seed Roberto Bautista Agut in the first round.
The Scot battled back from two sets down to take the lead in the fifth set, only to eventually lose to his Spanish opponent in visible pain.
Murray was emotional when being interviewed on court at the end, just days after announcing he will retire in 2019 he told the Melbourne crowd: "Maybe I’ll see you again. I’ll do everything possible to try."
He added on Facebook: "What a f****** night that was.
"Thanks so much to everyone who came out to support tonight.. It was an incredible atmosphere and I feel very lucky that I got to experience it. @australianopen I love you.
"Congrats to @robertobautistaagut and all the best for the rest of the tournament."
The Australian Open played a video montage of tributes to Murray, including the likes of Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Sloane Stephens, but the former world No.1 is yet to make a decision on his immediate future.
