What €250,000 will get you in Cork, Waterford and Galway compared to Dublin

It will come as no surprise to anyone that when it comes to buying property, your money will go a lot further when you leave Dublin.

According to Daft’s 2020 wealth report, the average price of a home in Ireland is around €264,000, though Dublin and Wicklow are two of the priciest places to purchase property. Some parts of Dublin, such as the swanky Dublin 6, have an average house price in excess of €600,000.

We decided to take a look at Daft to see what €250,000 can get you in Dublin, Cork, Waterford and Galway respectively.

Galway: a five bed, two bath detached home in Tuam

This five bedroom home , which is being newly offered up to the market by PP Kirrane Auctioneering, sits on a large, 3.72 acre site complete with farm buildings for any budding agrarians out there.

The house boasts a spacious, open plan kitchen with a feature brick fireplace, four double bedrooms, and one children’s bedroom complete with an adorable bed fit into an inlet into the room with integrated storage.

The asking price for the property is €250,00 on-the-nose.

Cork: A three-bedroom home in Ballyhooly

Spend your mornings looking over the Blackwater Valley as you sip your coffee in this three bedroom, two bath located in a small, 16-home development called Glaise na mBreac.

The development is on the edges of Ballyhooly village and is said to be a mere ten minute drive from Fermoy.

It’s a well-appointed property complete with patio doors in the kitchen that lead to a verdant garden out back.

For €245,000, this one is yours.

Waterford: A semi-detached on the outskirts of Waterford town

This cosy three-bedroom, two bathroom Waterford home is just ‘minutes’ away from Waterford Industrial Estate and Waterford Institute of Technology.

The sitting room has an open fireplace, while the kitchen and dining room are open plan and is illuminated with a sunny south westerly aspect to the rear.

This place will set you back €200,000, as per asking price.

Dublin: A one bed, one bath apartment in Dublin 8

If you aren’t sufficiently charmed by the country life and want to keep the country’s capital at your feet, you could pick up this one bedroom apartment in Islandbridge, Dublin 8.

This apartment is just at the foot of Phoenix Park, meaning your lockdown walks can be taken in the resplendent grounds while still remaining within your radius.

Well, there you have it. Varying degrees of bang for your buck wherever you choose to settle. All of these properties are currently, at time of writing, accepting bids. If anything in particular stole your heart, feel free to apply.
