Albany has recorded its wettest August day on record with nearly a month of rain falling in 48 hours, leading to flooding.
The South Coast city's airport has recorded 75.4 millimetres of rain overnight, eclipsing the previous daily record for August rain of 50.8mm in 1992.
It was also more rain than recorded in a single August day at the city's historic weather station in town of 73mm in 1979.
A severe weather warning remained in place for people from Walpole to Israelite Bay with more heavy falls, dangerous surf and strong winds forecast for today.
Meanwhile, more than 4,300 properties were cast into darkness in the early evening on Monday, at the end of what was the town's coldest day since 2004.
Winds later reached 80kph, as emergency services worked through the night responding to calls.
Department of Fire and Emergency Services Superintendent Wayne Green said they received 25 call-outs overnight, with more volunteers currently on the way from the dryer Upper Great Southern region.
"It's been a busy night for our volunteers," he said.
"It's going to hang around, we've got another 24 hours of this weather."
