Wetherspoons superfan shows off tattoo of pub chain among skinful of inkings

A Wetherspoons obsessive loves the pub so much he got a tattoo of the bargain booze chain on his leg.

Five years behind the bar of his local turned Dan Muir in a Spoons superfan.

He says pulling pints in the friendly atmosphere made him fall in love with the company and earned him mates for life.

So he made the decision to get the dedication to his favourite pub, the The Sir John Bake in Portsmouth, Hampshire, inked on his leg.

The 39-year-old proudly displays over 100 tattoos and his latest pays homage to his favourite boozer.

Dad-of-three Dan started working at his local when he was 18 so as soon as he decided it was time for another tat, he knew he had to celebrate life returning to normal in style.

"Now I am back into that monthly routine and wanted to show my appreciation of Wetherspoons by getting inked," he told The Sun.

“It's just for fun as I love Spoons, it is a great place to catch up and ideal to see your buddies for a few beers - I have friends for life from working and drinking there."

But it wasn't without its problems and he added: “My Wetherspoons one is probably one of the most painful I’ve had due to where it is."

His other pieces of body art centre around retro gaming logos, places he has visited and the names of his three children.

Data analyst Dan isn't the only person who can't get enough of the big value pints and food.

Paul Bardill has visited nearly 400 of Spoons establishments - but there’s a twist: he doesn’t drink.

His goal is to visit every one of the chain’s thousand-plus pubs.

Paul said his 2020 total was “quite an achievement”, adding “The pubs are all different but familiar."

He says the Wetherspoons atmosphere is special because “No one is judging you for being on your own.”

Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “ We are thrilled that Paul loves to visit our pubs.

“He is one of an elite group of enthusiasts that enjoy travelling across the UK to visit as many Wetherspoon pubs as possible."

“Paul’s visits are slightly different as he doesn’t drink alcohol. We appreciate his loyalty to Wetherspoon and trust that he will enjoy many more trips to our pubs,” he told the Daily Star.
