Wetherspoons slashing price of pints, spirits, coffee and soft drinks in UK pubs

Thousands of punters across the UK are expected to take a visit to a Wetherspoons pub in the coming weeks with the price of some menu items set for a decrease. The drop in England and Wales will begin tomorrow (3 January) and end on 17 January, while pubs in Scotland's cuts will begin on 4 January.

A Carlsberg, Bud Light, Guiness and Stowford Press Dark Berry Cider are amongst the most popular items to be slashed, while a pint of Ruddies Beer will be available for 99p across 560 pubs. The cost of spirits will also be reduced, including whiskey, gin, rum and vodka.

Coffee and soft drinks across 810 pubs will also be reduced to 99p. Tim Martin, Wetherspoon founder and chairman, said: "Department stores and shops hold their sales in January, so it is the perfect time to have a sale in the pub too.

"The range of drinks and food on sale in the pub is aimed at suiting a wide variety of tastes. This year we have included our biggest selection of low and non-alcoholic drinks."
