Wetherspoons creep stalked complete stranger he 'fell in love with' at pub

A man stalked a complete stranger after falling in love with her at a Wetherspoons pub, a court heard.

Kevin Prisk, 58, turned up at the house where the woman's partner was with some friends, armed with a knuckle duster and a Taser.

The drug addict, from St Blazey, Cornwall, also threatened to tell social services the victim's child was being abused if she did not respond to him.

Prisk appeared at Truro Crown Court to be sentenced for affray and stalking, Cornwall Live reports.

Francesca Whebell, prosecuting, said in August last year the couple were at St Austell Wetherspoon pub with some friends when they were introduced to Prisk.

While the group was chatting, Prisk sat staring the woman up and down, making her feel so uncomfortable that she went home, the court heard.

A few days later, the woman received a social media friend request and messages from Prisk, even though she made it clear she was in a relationship.

In one of the messages, the creep said: "I’m off my nut but I think I’ve fallen for you."

The victim thought the messages were strange as she had only met Prisk briefly, the court heard.

In the message exchange, he also told her he would look after her and find her a place to live.

Over the following days, Prisk continued to try to voice call, video call, and message the victim - and when she did not reply, he threatened to tell the authorities she and her partner had shaken her child.

Once, when the woman was away and her partner was at home with some friends, Prisk appeared through the door wearing a knuckle duster and holding what appeared to be a Taser.

He said "who wants to die" before the terrified occupants sought refuge in the locked bathroom before Prisk and friends, who were believed to be armed with machetes, left.

Despite the terrifying ordeal, the messages to the woman continued along with threats to kill her partner.

Prisk also posted his picture on Facebook saying he was a paedophile.

Messages continued until September, when Prisk was arrested and he told police the woman's partner had taken his phone.

The court heard that in February this year, the victim received another message from Prisk saying: "Hey babe. Kev. What you doing tonight?"

Representing Prisk, Ryan Murray said: "Heroin has been his vice in life and he has been proactive in combating his addiction, engaging with the services.

"Drugs have been part and parcel of his life for quite some time."

Sentencing Prisk, Judge Anna Richardson described the period of offending as "terrifying", and described how Prisk even found out she was being evicted and told her he was going to rent her house.

She added: "You have a significant and very poor record but there is a long break in your offending, having been out of trouble since 2011.

"Your life has been dominated by drug problems you developed at a young age and you have taken steps to address your addiction."

Given the prospect of rehabilitation, Prisk was given a 46-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.

He must complete a drug rehabilitation requirement and be subject of a three-month 7pm to 7am curfew. A five-year restraining order was also put in place.
