Wetherspoons chef offers glimpse inside kitchen and shatters microwave myth

A Wetherspoons chef shocked fans as he revealed how breakfasts are cooked at the budget pub chain - and there isn't a microwave in sight.

The unnamed chef shared a video on TikTok where he gave a step-by-step guide on how he prepares a traditional Wetherspoons breakfast from start to finish in under five minutes.

But when fans saw the meal had been freshly cooked rather than being warmed through in the microwave, a common myth with Spoons dishes, they were impressed.

In the clip, he starts by putting two slices of bacon onto the grill and cracking an egg.

He then deep-fried two hash browns and puts a slice of bread on the grill too.

And as fans were confused as to why he didn’t use a toaster, he later revealed in another video that it was broken and has since been replaced.

After that, he begins plating up his dish.

First things first, he adds a grilled tomato, and sausage to the plate before turning his attention back to the bacon and flipping it.

He adds the hash browns, egg, bacon, toast and a spoonful of beans, then all that’s left to do is send off the steaming hot plate - bar the slightly cold beans - to the customer.

Since being posted, it has been watched over 500,000 times, received 54,700 likes and over 900 comments.

One person said: "Wait they don’t actually microwave everything?"

Another added: "I genuinely thought spoons kitchens only have microwaves in AHAHAH."

A third said: "Oh my days, always wondered how Wetherspoons do its food."

And a fellow employee wrote: "I work at spoons too, funny to see the myth buster that everything’s microwaved."

A few other fans joked that Tim Martin, founder of the Wetherspoons franchise, wouldn’t approve of the grilled bread, and the chef joked: "They’re probably printing my p45 as we speak" with a crying emoji.

After popular demand, he has continued to share how he whips up the Wetherspoons classics in a foodie series like its southern fried chicken wrap, and chicken korma curry.
