Wetherspoon to reopen 60 of its Scottish pubs next week

Wetherspoon is set to open 60 of its pubs in Scotland next week, in line with the relaxation of coronavirus restrictions.

Yesterday, the First Minister confirmed that from 26 April, hospitality venues such as cafés, pubs and restaurants can reopen.

As the country moves to Level 3, pubs can resume full outdoor service - subject to local licensing - and serve food indoors without alcohol until 8pm.

South of the border, further 44 Wetherspoon pubs will be open for business from Monday, adding to the 394 which opened last week.

With 32 in Wales reopening next week and three in Northern Ireland on 30 April, the chain will have 533 of its 871 pubs open.

Customers will be able to enter the pubs to gain access to the outside area and also to use toilets.

Wetherspoon chief executive John Hutson said: “We are looking forward to opening the extra pubs in England as well as those in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.”
