Forty beers, some especially brewed, will be served at Wetherspoon pubs across Notts, to celebrate the chain's milestone anniversary.
The first in Nottingham to open was The Joseph Else, in South Parade, but the pub group had been going long before that and this month it notches up 40 years.
Beers from Australia, USA, Guam and Italy, together with beers from across the UK, will be available at 16 pubs in and around Nottingham, during the 12-day real ale festival.
The event will run from Wednesday, October 9 to Sunday, October 20 at pubs including The Roebuck Inn, in St James's Street, the Trent Bridge Inn, in West Bridgford and the William Peverel in Main Street, Bulwell.
Specially brewed beers have been inspired by songs and TV from 1979, the year the first pub was opened by Tim Martin.
Amongst them is JD Boss Hogg, named after the Dukes of Hazzard county commissioner and inspiration for the initials of JD Wetherspoon. Others include Punk is Dead, 40 Years, Another Pint in the Wall and One Step Beyond.
The 880-strong chain of pubs across the UK and Ireland will also serve beers flavoured with grapefruit, cherry, as well as coffee.
All beers will be £1.99 and drinkers will be able to sample any three of the real ales in special third-of-a-pint glasses for the price of a pint.
Limited edition 40th anniversary pint glasses will also be on sale for £1 on a first come first served basis.
The Roebuck Inn manager, Alex Darby, said: "We will be serving a superb range of beers from the UK and overseas. It is a great opportunity for real ale enthusiasts to enjoy an excellent selection of beers, including many that have been brewed specially for the festival."
Tasting notes on all of the beers will be available in each of the pubs.
