The cost of drinks at Wetherspoon pubs in Scotland has been hiked amid the rising cost of living.
Prices at the pub chain have risen by an average of 10p across most branches in the UK, the company has confirmed.
And there have been reports of this average being exceeded by much more.
One Spoons punter told Devon Live that that the price of Ruddles had spiked from 99p per pint to £1.49 since the price change.
A spokesperson told the publication that it aims to keep the prices as competitive as possible.
“Occasionally Wetherspoon does increase the price of its drinks”, the firm said.
“We always aim to keep our prices as competitive as possible.
“Prices on drinks in the majority of our pubs have increased by an average 10p from Tuesday, March 1 with an increase of 20p in pubs and around London.
“This represents an average two per cent increase in the majority of Wetherspoon pubs and four per cent in pubs in and around London.
“We believe that our drinks offer still represents great value for money.”
Wetherspoon is the latest company to announce a rise in prices as the cost of living crisis continues.
Greggs customers were left disappointed when the bakers slapped a 5p increase on the cost of sausage rolls.
The firm recent warned of further price rises as the Russian invasion of Ukraine threatens to increase the costs of raw ingredients and transportation costs.
Drivers have also seen fuel prices surge, with the cost of diesel rising to highs of almost £2 a litre in some petrol stations in recent days.
Gas and electricity bills are also set to increase by £693 for millions of households from next month.
