Wet Wet Wet star set to perform exclusive charity concert

Wet Wet Wet star Graeme Clark is to perform at an exclusive concert in Ayrshire to raise funds for charity Hansel.

The singer, who penned Wets classic hits such as Goodnight Girl, Angel Eyes and Wishing I Was Lucky, will be appearing at the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway on August 24.

Tickets costing £20 are on sale from the Fundraising Department on 01563 830340 or by email to claudia.cheung@hansel.org.uk. Alternatively they are available from the Hansel gift shop, Hi Street at 40 Main Street, Prestwick. VIP tickets, which include the best seats in the venue and an opportunity to meet the performer, are available for £30.

Agnes Paton, Hansel Fundraising and Communications Manager, said: “We are thrilled that Graeme has agreed to appear at the concert.

"He is one of Scotland’s most talented musicians and songwriters and will be performing songs from his latest album, Radio Silence, along with some Wet Wet Wet classics.

“Graeme’s involvement with the charity started when he agreed to film a thank you to the amazing people who took part in The Kiltwalk for Hansel and we are so grateful for his support.”

Clark will be accompanied by renowned violinist Fiona Cuthill. Fiona is classically trained and has made the switch to playing more traditional styles of music with bands such as Rallion, Real Time and The Wendy Weatherby Band.

She also teaches traditional fiddle music at the Glasgow Folk Music Workshop and has composed pieces for many albums.

Also on the bill is a solo performance from blues-rock guitarist Kyle Hood, an accomplished musician who also plays with popular band Rigid Soul which has a monthly residency at Howlin Wolf in Glasgow and has provided support slots for Kyle Falconer of The View and Zal Cleminson of The Sensational Alex Harvey Band.

The money raised from the concert will go towards the Wilson House Refurbishment Appeal which aims to raise £60,300 to improve facilities at the small group home at Hansel’s headquarters in Symington.

The property, which accommodates 15 residents, needs modernised with new furniture and paintwork and improvements made to the lay-out of the bath and shower rooms.

Agnes said: “It has been more than 20 years since the property has been refurbished and it desperately needs updated. We hope that local people will get behind the campaign and help us to transform Wilson House.”

Hansel is one of Ayrshire’s leading care organisations supporting people and their families living with a learning disability and those with autism. Further information is available from www.hansel.org.uk
