THERE are delays across the Hunter's train and road network on Friday after wet weather caused early-morning commuter chaos.
One of two southbound lanes on Lookout Road was closed for some time after a car crash at Lambton Heights. Emergency services were called to the scene about 8.20am at the intersection of McCaffrey Drive, but the site has since been cleared.
Meanwhile two of three northbound lanes of Northcott Drive at Park Avenue, Kotara were also closed due to a separate crash.

A two-car accident created delays on Newcastle Link Road at the Minmi Road intersection, Cameron Park. The crash occurred about 6.17am, with emergency services clearing the scene about 7.30am.
Drivers were asked to expect heavy traffic and exercise caution while travelling through the area.
There was also a car crash on the Thornton eastbound on-ramp for the New England Highway. The accident site was cleared just before 8am, but motorists were still experiencing delays around Weakleys Drive.

There are also delays on the Central Coast and Newcastle train line.
Commuters have been asked to allow extra travel time after heavy rainfall activated safety monitors and slip detectors at Wondabyne.
The rainy weather is expected to stick around as a high pressure system over Bass Strait extends a ridge to the southern Tasman Sea and up the NSW coastline. This trough is expected to linger for the next couple of days according to the Bureau of Meteorology, influencing conditions along the coast, before moving away to the east on Sunday.
The forecast for Friday is for more rain, possibly heavy at times near the coast, and the chance of a thunderstorm about the Lower Hunter.
