Colombian journalist Mario Esteban López escaped with his life after his kidnappers failed to light the petrol they poured over him. Their matches were evidently too wet.
But López, the director of Canal 22 TV in Ipiales, Nariño, was badly beaten. He believes the attack was ordered by drug traffickers.
