Westwood wonder saves, familiar failings - the story of Leeds United's first half vs Sheffield Wednesday

Leeds United were left cursing an excellent performance from Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Keiren Westwood in the first half of tonight's Yorkshire derby at Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa was forced into a late pre-match change when skipper Liam Cooper was injured during the warm-up, with Gaetano Berardi being drafted in off the bench for his first start since October.

Both sides were able to carve out decent chances in the opening half-hour with Keiren Westwood saving well from Tyler Roberts and Jack Harrison, while a last-ditch Luke Ayling tackle and a save from Kiko Casilla following a Barry Bannan drive kept the scores level.

A goalmouth scramble then followed but again Leeds could not find the final touch, minutes before Roberts saw another chance blocked after a cross from Patrick Bamford.

Despite Leeds constantly creating chances, a goal would not come, with Wednesday having plenty to thank Westwood for.
