
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called into action for two serious motor vehicle accidents, including one where a car rolled several times, in the Lower Hunter on Friday.
The chopper, four ambulance crews and nine SES rescue operators responded to single car accident at Nelsons Plains where a car rolled and a woman was trapped.
Police said the car travelled left the road and 41 metres through the air. A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said the 29-year-old woman was trapped for "quite a while" after the crash on Seaham Road, which occurred about 11pm.
Port Stephens SES said it was "a complex and extended extrication" which included both side removal, roof fold and a dash lift.
The woman was flown to John Hunter Hospital with leg and pelvis injuries in a serious condition.
Earlier in the day, the chopper and three ambulance crews responded to an incident at Raworth about 3.30pm where a 32-year-old man came off a motorcycle on Ellie Avenue.
The man suffered a head injury and grazes to his body. He was taken to John Hunter Hospital by ambulance in a serious condition.
