Weston-super-Mare street cordoned off by police after man knocked unconscious in attack

A Weston-super-Mare street has been cordoned off by police after a man was knocked unconscious in an assault.

The victim, a 43-year-old man, was punched to the ground in an attack in Upper Church Road on Thursday evening (July 4).

The man was rushed to hospital and is being treated for a head injury.

One witness reported seeing blood on the pavement on Friday morning (July 5).

Avon and Somerset Constabulary is now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The suspect has been described as white, in his mid-20s, about 6ft tall and slim, with blond hair. He wore jeans and a grey T-shirt.

A police spokesman said: "Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was knocked unconscious in the street in Weston-super-Mare.

"It happened just before 9.20pm on Thursday (July 4) in Upper Church Road. 

"Police attended and witnesses said a 43-year-old man had been punched to the ground. Ambulance crews took the him to hospital where he remains for treatment to a head injury.
