Weston-super-Mare road cordoned off and teenager arrested

A teenager has been arrested following an incident in the centre of Weston-super-Mare this morning (May 2).

The 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage after police were called to the Walliscote Road area following concern for a man's welfare.

Witness reports suggest a cordon was put in place at around 7am, with debris and broken glass said to be strewn across the street, Somerset Live reports.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "An 18-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage and he’s now in custody.”
