Weston-super-Mare road closed after car crashes into town centre restaurant

A busy street in Weston-super-Mare was closed this morning (June 15)– after a car crashed into a restaurant.

Emergency crews were called to Regent Street in the seaside town at just betore 11am to reports a car had hit a restaurant opposute Barclays bank.

Two people in the car were rescued by paramedics - the extent of their injuries is not known.

The road was closed in both directions while police and emergency crews deal with the incident.

A police spokesman said: “We were called at 10.48am today to reports of a car that had crashed in Regent Street, Weston-super-Mare.

“The fire service and ambulance service were also called to the scene. A road closure was put in place.”

Crews from Weston-super-Mare fire station were called to the incident.

A spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue said: “We are called at 11am to reports of a car colliding with a building in Regent Street.

"Crews from Weston fire station attended.

“Two casualties were rescued from the car by paramedics.

“Police were also on scene and we handed the incident over to them.”
