Weston McKennie not on Liverpool radar after talk of summer transfer to Anfield

Liverpool are not plotting a summer swoop for Schalke midfielder Weston McKennie.

The United States international, who moved to Europe from FC Dallas in August 2017, has today been linked with a £20m move to Anfield.

According to reports, the 20-year-old has caught the eye of a Reds scouts in his 36 Bundesliga appearance for the Gelsenkirchen club.

And his ability to play in both midfield and defence is believed to have piqued the interest of Jurgen Klopp, who has subsequently sanctioned a big-money bid.

However, Standard Sport understands that the Reds current hold zero interest in McKennie.

Klopp is believed to be happy with his central midfield options and, as such, is not planning to bolster his ranks in that position in January.

Meanwhile, a summer move for McKennie also appears unlikely, with both Klopp and sporting director Michael Edwards eyeing alternative targets in that position.
