Theresa May is set to face Jeremy Corbyn at Prime Minister’s Questions later today for the first time since the dramatic collapse of construction and services company Carillion.
Expect the Labour leader to focus on this in his six questions to the Prime Minister on Wednesday, reiterating his call for the directors of the failed firm to give back their multi-million pound bonuses.
The company is the second biggest construction firm in the UK and employs 20,000 people across the country and managing 450 government contracts.
The Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell also accused the Government of being “too close” to the firm and “too wedded” to privatisation – claims Liz Truss, the shadow chief secretary to the Treasury, rebuffed as “cheap political shots”.
