Theresa May will meet Xi Jinping, the Chinese President, in Beijing later at a time when she is battling to keep her MPs onside.
The Prime Minister will be hoping to make progress towards a post-Brexit trade deal with China, despite her International Trade Secretary, Liam Fox, warning that one might not be possible. Ms May will give Mr Xi a Blue Planet 2 box set, Downing Street said.
Elsewhere, Guy Verhofstadt, the European Parliament's Brexit lead, is set to outline his views on mutual citizens rights after Brexit. He is likely to hit back at Ms May over reports she is gearing up for a fight with Brussels over the cut-off date for guaranteeing the rights of European citizens in the UK.
