Westminster today - live updates: Theresa May to face Jeremy Corbyn in first PMQs of 2018 after cabinet reshuffle controversy

Theresa May will face Jeremy Corbyn for the first Prime Minister’s Questions of the year, where she will be backed by her new-look Cabinet.

The two-day reshuffle - aimed at ridding her top team of its “pale, male and stale” image - saw a raft of new MPs promoted to junior ministerial positions. However Ms May’s efforts to shake up the top tier stalled when senior ministers, including Jeremy Hunt and Justine Greening, refused to be moved.

The Labour Leader could dedicate his questions to the NHS winter crisis, which has been dominating the headlines after struggling hospitals were told to delay thousands of routine operations to cope with the strain.

Or he may focus on a damning report from the Government’s spending watchdog found Britain’s largest rail franchise was not providing value for money.

MPs will also debate two opposition day motions on the NHS and the railways, while Labour will trigger a symbolic vote on a motion demanding more money for the NHS.
