Westminster councillors are to vote on another pay rise for themselves - less than a year after cabinet members received a 45 per cent raise.
Officers have recommended that councillors should receive a 3.88 per cent rise - bringing basic allowances up to £10,581.
The increase means the council would spend an extra £26,571 on allowances, a figure which is within its budget.
Last year Prime Minister Rishi Sunak slammed the council for giving its cabinet members an “eyewatering” 45 per cent pay rise while increasing social rents for the poorest residents.
During PMQs in March Mr Sunak said it was "disappointing" that the Labour-run authority hiked fees for council tenants by seven per cent while upping pay for councillors by up to £5,275.
Six senior cabinet member saw their wage increase from £11,733 to £17,008 - 10 times the amount that the council's employees will receive.
At the time Westminster hit back saying its councillors had been paid significantly lower allowances than other areas.
The borough also has the lowest council tax in the country, with the average household paying £912 a year.
Cabinet member allowances have now been recommended to rise to £17,668 - according to council documents. The basic councillor allowance will rise by £395.
A report says councillors' allowances are recommended to go up for the years 2024/25 to 2025/26 in line with any future salary increases for council staff that are agreed by the National Joint Council for Local Government Services.
Labour won control of the town hall for the first time during the local elections in May 2020.
A council spokesperson said: “Councillors are due to vote on members allowances this week. A range of options will be considered and no decision has been taken.
“The option recommended by officers would see allowances increase in line with staff pay.
"If the proposed increase is approved Westminster’s councillor allowances would remain significantly lower than many other local authorities.”
Councillors are due to vote on the rise on Wednesday evening.
