Westlife will perform on 'bigger, glitzier' stage at Croke Park concerts

Westlife will pull out all the stops to wow Irish fans this weekend, with a bespoke stage specifically for Croker.

Fifty trucks are making their way to the North Dublin venue to set up for one of the biggest stages the stadium has seen.

MCD events controller Eamonn Fox said yesterday: “It’s a very visual show.

“It is a festival show and their set will turn up here on Thursday morning and be ready for the show on Friday night.

“So it is a very intense 48-hour period of work in terms of setting up for the show.

“And then because it is a much bigger show in that they have enhanced it for the audience here.

“It will be all the hits but it is a homecoming in terms of it will be a much bigger, glitzier show than you will get in the UK they have got an extra stage and then the big stage.”

For the first time since 2012, the band made up of Shane Filan, Kian Egan, Nicky Byrne and Mark Feehily will return to Croke Park for two nights on Friday and Saturday.
