Westlife's Mark breaks silence with emotional thanks to fans singing for him on tour

Mark Feehily has sent an emotional message to Westlife fans after his bandmate Kian Egan shared a video of concert-goers singing Mark's verses in his absence.

Westlife singer Mark, 42, has been forced to miss a string of recent shows of their Wild Dreams Tour with his Irish bandmates after falling ill with pneumonia.

Mark recently shared a lengthy statement explaining why he would be absent in upcoming shows but assured fans he would be on the road again soon.

The rest of the band, which is made up of Shane Filan, Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne – after Brian McFadden quit in 2004 – have continued to perform and paid tribute to Mark in his absence.

During their Newcastle gig the group posed with a sign which had Mark followed by three red hearts painted on. And, in Sheffield, Kian filmed the crowd saying: "Mark we miss you, Mark we love you".

And finally, at the band's most recent gig in Liverpool saw the fans singing Mark's section in their hit song Flying Without Wings.

In a video shared by Kian, the crowd were seen singing Mark's verse as the group stood on stage while Mark held a microphone up to a cardboard cutout of Mark.

As he posted the video on his Instagram page, Kian wrote on top: "Liverpool you were certainly 'flying without wings'".

Kian then added in the caption: "Liverpool killing @markusmoments part in Flying without wings last night! What an epic show!!!! #westlife #wilddreamstour".

Mark soon reacted to the touching moment in the comments as he wrote: "HOLY MOLY!!! Nice singing Liverpool wish I was there".

And many concert-goers replied to Mark's emotional message as one penned: "you were missed, my dear get better soon, my sweetest boy ".

"We missed you Mark," another added followed by a red heart emoji and a third added: "wasnt the same without you".

It comes after Mark shared a health update with fans online. "Firstly, I'd like to say a huge sincere thank you to everybody for sending their and get well soon messages – it means so much," the Irish singer penned.

"I was really gutted to miss the weekend shows in Newcastle but I started to feel quite unwell on Friday and that doctors have confirmed that it is a bout of pneumonia.

"I know it's scary when you first hear the word 'Pneumonia', but thankfully, I got to the doctor and the hospital very quickly and got on the antibiotics as soon as possible – so everything is currently under control.

"I have been informed that the quickest way to recovery is to rest and continue the antibiotics. I'm feeling a bit better everyday. The nurses and doctors are taking amazing care of me so it should all be over in no time.

"This does however mean missing more gigs which is horrible but I'll be back on stage as soon as I can get the all clear."

Mark went on to confirm that his bandmates will be doing the shows without him as they set to carry on on their tour of the UK and Ireland.

He added: "Until then, Nicky, Shane, and Kian will continue to fly the Westlife flag high for all of us. Please scream even louder than usual for those three legends in my absence.

"Sending love to you all, I hope to see you back on the road very, very, soon. Mark."
