Westlife fans' fury as Glasgow gig-goers left standing after SSE Hydro seat delay

Westlife fans have been left furious after being forced to stand during last night's concert at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow.

Shortly before the show, just before 6.30pm last night, the Hydro Tweeted out a link to a statement to say that due to transport delays, the concert had been changed from a fully seated show to a seated and standing concert.

Boy-band fans, some of whom had paid hundreds of pounds for tickets, instantly hit out at the move, while many gig-goers complained afterwards they were unable to see much of the show.

Dozens are now demanding refunds, which have been offered by SSE Hydro, who included in their statement: "If you are unable to stand or prefer not to, you will be entitled to a full refund from your original point of purchase."

"On behalf of the promoter of the event we apologise for any frustration or disappointment this may cause and appreciate your understanding."

In spite of the offer, some in the crowd were left bitterly disappointed and have since taken to social media to voice their anger, with fans even calling it the "worst concert ever".

Angela MacDonald asked: "What happens if you’ve paid £250 + for a guaranteed FRONT ROW ticket???"

Frazer Mitchell added: "70+ year old parents just contacted me to say the seats they booked months ago no longer exist and they need to stand or don’t see the show. Disgusting treatment!"

Mairi Temple commented: "Will this fiasco be sorted by the next Westlife concert? It’s a disgrace you think it’s acceptable to ask disabled / elderly people to stand or get refund. I paid VIP for great seats, it’s hardly treating customers fairly if it’s a free for all standing!"

Jean McGlinchie replied: "Disgraceful organisation of this concert no seats to sit on so they remove all in front row will rethink ever going back"

While Shell_jcar_shelley_g said: "It was my worst concert ever standing out nearly a hour at the disabled entrance had to leave early missed half the show what a waste of money."

Westlife are also due to play on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week at the Hydro, and it remains to be seen what the seating set up will be on these dates.
