Westlife announce new date in Aviva Stadium after sell out - as new tune with Ed Sheeran released

Westlife will play a second date at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin in 2022 after their first night sold out.

The Flying Without Wings hitmakers last week announced that they were kicking off an extensive Ireland and UK tour in 2022 at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on July 8.

Due to phenomenal demand, the Irish four-piece announced a second show on Saturday, July 9 has been added.

After almost two years off the road due to the pandemic, the lads - made up of Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, Mark Feehily and Kian Egan said they felt "honoured" to be taking to the road.

Mark, Nicky, Shane and Kian will also Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork on August 12th and 13th.

They’re also due to play London’s Wembley Stadium on August 6th, as well as a whole host of venues across the UK.

The new date news comes just after the band released their new tune penned by Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac in a powerful performance this week.

‘My Hero’, a ‘soul-stirring’ new ballad from the band’s upcoming album ‘Wild Dreams’, was played to more than five million viewers during the grand finale of the Pride of Britain Awards.

The performance saw Shane, Nicky, Mark and Kian back in action as they were joined on stage by the remarkable award-winners.

Lifting the lid on the new single, co-written by Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac, they said: “My Hero has such beautiful lyrics. It is a powerful, heartfelt song which has such a strong meaning for all of us.

“The single reminds us of the heroics people have shown over the last 18 months and it also reflects on our own loved-ones who so often have been our own personal heroes.

“The track is packed with emotion and has the potential to really connect with people. “Performing it for millions of Pride of Britain viewers was the perfect launch.”

An uplifting new music video, which sees the band together in the studio performing a classic acoustic version of the track, has also been released.

The release of ‘My Hero’ follows Westlife’s return to music last month with the announcement of a highly-anticipated new album and a 2022 stadiums and arena tour.

The Irish band will perform at the Aviva Stadium on Friday, July 8 2022 as part of their upcoming world tour, before playing Pairc Ui Chaoimh on August 12 and 13.

Tickets for their new date are on sale now at Ticketmaster.ie.

The new album, ‘Wild Dreams’, will be released on November 26 and is available for pre-order now.
